Dragon Lady, Final

I finally got around to creating a quick, one-minute video of the process to create Dragon Lady from the time I imported a photographed version of the original sketch.  Sans the original sketch done with a mechanical piece, all of the video shows timelapse of my work within Procreate app on my iPad Pro using an Apple Pencil.  You can find the video at the bottom of this post.

For the record, I do not take my much effort to digitize a sketch.  I generally just snap a pic using my iPhone, and worry very little about quality or even keystone’ing that may result.  Quick and dirty.

As I work through the process of converting into a digital form, I started to work pretty aggressively on my values.  At some point in the process I realized that her hair could be transformed into a more fantastical element of a dragon.  Once I have nailed my values, I move onto coloring the entire piece using a process similar to cartoonists called flatting.  Once I have the piece broken out into areas via layers, the real work begins of rendering.  While I thought I was done, some feedback from someone online prompted me to go back and remove the illustration lines seen around the face and hair, and I further worked on the hair’s texture to better match the style of rendering elsewhere.  Below is the product of all that work.
